The stable systems can be used directly or in diluted or solid forms of application (such as lipid-containing proteasome shower preparation, proteasome bath powder, and the like).

Title: MELANIN PRODUCTION INHIBITOR

Applicant/Assignee: FANCL CORPORATION

Application No.: JP2010/056986   Filing Date: 20/Apr/2010

Abstract:The amount of ultraviolet light that reaches the ground tends to be increasing due to the disruption of the ozone layer or the change in the global environment. When the skin is irradiated with ultraviolet light, tyrosine in the skin is oxidized by the action of tyrosinase to produce melanin pigment. For the purpose of inhibiting the excess production of melanin pigment and preventing the formation of pigmented spots or freckles, skin cosmetics containing kojic acid glycosides, L-ascorbic acid or a derivative thereof and the like have been proposed. However, these substances do not necessarily have a satisfactory skin-whitening effect, or often cause disadvantages in safety or stability of preparations when these substances are added to the preparations at concentrations at which a skin-whitening effect can be exerted. Meanwhile, although it is known that dehydrocostuslactone can be used as an active ingredient of anti-tumor agents, it is still not known that dehydrocostuslactone can inhibit the production of melanin. Thus, disclosed are an excellent melanin production inhibitor comprising dehydrocostuslactone as an active ingredient and a skin-whitening cosmetic comprising the melanin production inhibitor.

Title: USE OF EQUOL FOR TREATING SKIN DISEASES

Applicant/Assignee: BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY, COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FOUNDATION, CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER

Application No.: US2010/043017   Filing Date: 23/Jul/2010

Abstract:Equol (7-hydroxy-3(4'hydroxyphenyl)-chroman), the major metabolite of the phytoestrogen daidzein, specifically binds and blocks the hormonal action of 5a- dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in vitro and in vivo. Equol can bind circulating free DHT and sequester it from the androgen receptor, thus altering growth and physiological hormone responses that are regulated by androgens. These data suggest a novel model to explain equol's biological properties. The significance of equol's ability to specifically bind and sequester DHT from the androgen receptor have important ramifications in health and disease and may indicate a broad and important usage for equol in the treatment and prevention of androgen-mediated pathologies of skin and hair. Thus, equol can specifically bind DHT and prevent DHT's biological actions in physiological and pathophysiological processes affecting skin and hair.

Title: A PARTICULATE FLUORESCER AND A PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME

Applicant/Assignee: UNILEVER NV, UNILEVER PLC, HINDUSTAN UNILEVER LIMITED

Application No.: EP2010/062616   Filing Date: 30/Aug/2010

Abstract:This invention relates to a particulate fluorescer and a process for preparing the same. More particularly the present invention relates to a bipolar particulate fluorescer for use in laundry detergent composition, fabric conditioner and cosmetic compositions and a process for making the same. In view of the foregoing, it is an object of the present invention to provide a fluorescer with improved retention to the fabric so that larger amounts of fluorescer will be available even after rinsing. It is yet a further object of the invention to provide a fluorescer with improved stability when formulated in cosmetic compositions. Surprisingly it has been found that fluorescer molecules tagged by surface reaction on to naturally occurring asymmetric clay surfaces, act as a fluorescer particle with improved retention properties, low fabric specificity, higher stability in cosmetic formulations and/or yielding improved brightness to substrate (skin/fabric) on use and meets at least one of the above mentioned objects.

Title: FATTY ACID AMINO ESTER, AND SKIN-WHITENING COSMETIC COMPRISING SAME

Applicant/Assignee: MIWON COMMERCIAL CO., LTD

Application No.: KR2010/006387   Filing Date: 17/Sep/2010

Abstract:The present invention relates to a fatty acid amino ester and to a skin-whitening composition comprising same. It is an aim of the present invention to provide a fatty acid amino ester which is not harmful to the human body and which has superior skin-whitening effects and skin penetration or stability, and to provide a skin-whitening cosmetic comprising the fatty acid amino ester. The fatty acid amino ester of the present invention acts as an antagonist of MC1R, and effectively inhibits the expression of the hypostasis gene of the MC1R and inhibits the activity of tyrosinase and melanogenesis. In addition, the fatty acid amino ester employs a biocompatible amino acid to reduce cytotoxicity, and has a low molecular weight and organocompatible characteristics, and therefore the fatty acid amino ester of the present invention can easily penetrate into the skin of a user.

Further, ester groups are incorporated into the C-terminal of the amino acid to achieve improved pH stability and exhibit superior chemical stability over a long period of use.

Application No.: EP2010/064080   Filing Date: 23/Sep/2010

Abstract:A sunless tanning composition is provided with from 0.1 to 40% by weight of a C1 -C24 alpha-hydroxyaldehyde and from 0.1 to 15% by weight of hydrophobic droplets, the droplets including from 80 to 99.9% by weight of a lipophilic substance and from 0.01 to 3% by weight of a particulate colorant dispersed within the lipophilic substance. The preferred colorant is black iron oxide. Upon initial application to an area of skin the droplets appear aesthetically displeasingly grey/black which upon being rubbed into the skin dissipates the aesthetically displeasing grey/black appearance and concurrently ensures sufficient rub-in of the alpha-hydroxyaldehyde, which is preferably dihydroxyacetone, to evenly and penetratingly interact with the area of skin and reduce streaking. A preferred lipohilic substance is petrolatum. The composition may further comprise a crystalline gel structurant.

Abstract:Although the method of buffing using a file or the like exists as a method for managing nails, there are problems relating to the healthy maintenance of the nails and skin, such as worsening damage to the nail surface from there being much abrasion at the same spot, and damage to the skin because management of the nail end and the growth edge is difficult. At the elbow and heel, the stratum corneum is ground and ablated with a pumice stone, a file, or the like, but there are the complications of damage to the skin through excess scraping and the fact that such tools cannot be used except in specific places such as a bath or sink. The disclosed skin cosmetic kneaded composition, wherein an abrasive and keratin hydrolysate are combined with a viscous base material and kneaded, is used. The skin cosmetic kneaded composition is produced by means of introducing the viscous base material, the abrasive, and the keratin hydrolysate into a stirring device, and then stirring. The produced skin cosmetic kneaded composition is used by being applied to the surface of a bodily part that is the nails, the heels, or the elbows, and then the applied material is rubbed at the place of application using the fingertip, palm of the hand, or an implement. A more favorable result can be obtained if an acidic fluid having a pH of 2-4 is used concomitantly at the place of application.
